Secure Software Development Lifecycle (SSDLC) Policy Template
Developer-native security policy establishing mandatory peer code reviews, git commit signing, automated SAST/SCA pipeline gates, and environment isolation.
Mandatory Controls Enforced in This Policy
Direct pushes to main/master branches strictly blocked across all repositories
Mandatory independent peer review with explicit approval before pull request merge
Automated CI/CD security gates: SAST (OWASP Top 10), SCA dependency scanning, and Secret Detection
Strict separation of Development, Staging, and Production environments

# Secure SDLC Policy (SSDLC-03)
**Classification:** Internal / Engineering
**Controls Mapped:** ISO/IEC 27001:2022 A.8.25-A.8.31 | SOC 2 CC7.1, CC8.1
---
## 1. Source Code Repository Controls
1. **Branch Protection:** Direct pushes to production branches are blocked.
2. **Peer Reviews:** Every Pull Request requires at least **1 independent code review**.
3. **Signed Commits:** Developers must sign git commits using verified GPG/SSH keys.
## 2. Automated CI/CD Pipeline Gates
Every automated build executes:
- **SAST:** Scans for OWASP Top 10 vulnerabilities.
- **SCA:** Scans dependencies for CVEs with build-breaking thresholds for Critical vulnerabilities.
- **Secret Detection:** Git hooks block commits containing leaked API keys or credentials.
## 3. Environment Segregation
Development, Staging, and Production environments must remain strictly isolated. Production customer data is prohibited in test environments.

CI/CD build logs showing automated SAST/SCA security scans
Git commit log demonstrating verified signature badges
Frequently Asked Questions
How do auditors verify Secure SDLC compliance?
Auditors inspect GitHub/GitLab branch protection settings, sample 5-10 recent merged Pull Requests to verify peer approvals, and check CI/CD pipeline scanning logs.
